1. What is the WSU Farm
Family Support Network?
It
is a group of consultants trained by Washington State University
Extension who will assist farm families who are experiencing
business and/or family stress. The consultants are part of
a network of educators and others who will help families to
understand their current financial and family situation and
to develop a decision-making framework to plan for their preferred
future.

3. Who should
call the Farm Family Support Network?
You
should call the WSU Farm Family Support Network:
- If
you are not sure about the need, direction or strategy
for changes to your farming operation;
- If
you have difficulty maintaining financial stability;
- When
family stress has increased and you suspect it is related
to the farming operation in some way;
- When
you are about to retire and don't know who will take over
or how to "hand over" the business;
- Because
you need someone to "talk things over with" and
confidentiality is important;
Any
farm family member may call to discuss issues or request an on-site
consultation. We do not respond to calls from anyone except
a member of the requesting farm family.
4. Who would I talk to?
When
you first call our toll free number (below), you will speak
with our Program Coordinator, Peter V.Rodionoff. One
of our consultants will then be assigned to your family. Each
consultant will have training in financial analysis, personal
and family issues. Confidential discussions will help the family
in their decision-making process, including assistance in identifying
desired community and/or financial resources.
5. Is there a cost?
There
is no cost for consultations.
6. Are the consultations
held confidential?
Absolutely,
everything discussed is strictly confidential.
7. Has this been tried
anywhere else?
This
type of program has been successful in Nebraska, Iowa, Tennessee,
Minnesota, New York and other states for more than 10 years.
